I agree--Immy is a delightful character, and CHOKE is the funniest book I've read in years. And a darned good mystery as well.

Hello Mr Smyth,
I didn't agree with your quibbles. I think inflicting the reader with the "War of the Currents" would have been distracting. Maybe it could be a plot for another book. Also, do you really think aldultery didn't happen? But thank you for your review. I'm just a reader. I loved the book. Sometimes I like a "cozy book" after reading a lot of, say, James Lee Burke etc. Cheri

Aloha, Laura!

Thanks so much for reviewing Pele's Tears. I'm glad you found it to be an appealing read.

Just for fun, Laura in Hawaiian is Lala or Lara. I used my own name in Pele's Tears. Sharon is Kalana, one of the Beans and Blossoms clerks. And Keneke, the tough, motorcyle-riding flower harvester, is Kenneth in Hawaiian, my late f-i-l's name.

Mahalo,

I hope you enjoy it, Jenny, I think it was very well done. Different than most murder mysteries, a good take on Ten Little Indians.

Cheers, Amanda

I am so excited to read this one, Amanda--and thank you for this review, which drums up eagerness even more. Reading it so fast you had to read again is probably the highest praise I can imagine a book getting. Last night I met Steve Rigolosi, another Ransom Note Press author, who also raved about Mr. Keith's novel.

Wow! Great job on the review! Based on your description, I don't think I would find it very interesting, especially if you think you would not read the "next adventure." Just not my cup of tea, if you will.

My thanks to The GenReview and to Amanda Capper for the kind review of "Caesar's Fall." It is very much appreciated, I do hope Amanda (hey, let's dream big and make that "everyone," will have the chance to read more of my work.)

Best Regards,

I haven't read this latest book by Gillian F. Taylor, but I note the "black hats" and "Saturday afternoon matinée" allusions, and the "commonplace" and "ordinary" at the conclusion.

The reviewer might receive a better idea of the requirements the Black Horse Western writer is currently expected to meet by visiting www.blackhorsewesterns.com and reading all the articles in the new, December-February edition of the ezine Black Horse Extra. A reading of the previous edition of this quarterly publication would further inform.

Frankly, it sounds to me as though the author of Silver Express has done rather well within the constraints and fulfilled the critical aim of providing what the market will take.
